Completing a Bachelor’s degree in fashion design can prepare you for a variety of careers in the fashion industry. Most programs include between 125 and 140 credits, so you may graduate in four to five years. If you take summer classes, such as those offered at Purdue University, you may have a better chance of graduating in four years. Some of the classes you may have to take as a fashion design student include Apparel Design and Technology, History of Fashion, and Textiles. Some schools even offer study abroad options to let you gain an international perspective and fashion design.

After completing your bachelor’s degree, you may choose to earn your Master’s degree as well. If you attend as a full-time student, you may be able to complete 30 credits in two years. As a part-time student, you may be in school for three years. Both as a fashion student and fashion professional, consider joining Fashion Group International. This can keep you updated on fashion events in your area.
