To get started as a fashion designer, you can pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Delaware. The programs at both schools take between 4 1/2 and five years to complete. You may have to complete between 120 and 130 credits. As part of your program, you may have to complete a design portfolio. This portfolio can be an important part of your job search, as it includes all of your design work and shows off your style. You generally work on your portfolio throughout your degree while taking classes like Fundamentals of Textiles, Fashion Business, and Advanced Apparel Product Development.
If you decide to continue your education and complete a Master’s degree in fashion design, plan on spending two years as a full-time student or three years as a part-time student. This degree prepares you for a leadership role as a fashion designer. Classes include Psychological Aspects of Clothing, Apparel Brand Management, and Product Development.
